About Us
Fran brings to the world of dogs,
19 years of hands-on veterinary experience, a lifetime
of animal behavioral observation and dog training, as
well as 11 ½ years of positive motivational dog
training. For the last seven years she has worked closely
with Carolyn Wilki of Raspberry Ridge Sheep Farm. Carolyn
hosts positive canine aggression seminars, growler classes
and positive herding classes, as well as many other
courses, which are attended by individuals from across
the country.
Fran is a Nationally Certified
Pet Dog Trainer and 100% committed to positive training.
She teaches her students that there is much more to
training a dog than “sit”, “down”,
“come” and “stay”. She teaches
strong fundamentals of focus and attention, and has
her human students understand the science of the dog
to better communicate with their pets. Without understanding
the science, the miscommunications between handler and
dog can be disastrous, often encouraging some seriously
undesirable behaviors/reactions on the part of both
dog and owner. Dog manners are also taught.
Each student is taught at his or her own level.
Questions are encouraged and Fran’s offers a great
many tips and hints to assure the dog and handler’s
successful session.
Fran and her husband, Larry, have five cats and
two dogs. The five cats have all been rescued and now
have forever homes in the Kramer household. Fred, Abby,
Melvin, Smokey and Genie vie for attention from all
who visit the family. Their two dogs also come from
rescue. Berries (short for Blueberries), a purebred
bi-color (black & white) Australian Shepherd, was
adopted at the age of one year, just before she was
about to be surrendered to Australian Shepherd Rescue.
She was out of control and had few manners. Berries
is now 12 ½ years of age, still tries to chase
the sheep, and comes regularly to group class orientation
to greet all the new students. McTavish was adopted
at the age of 7 ½ weeks from Australian Shepherd
Rescue in Binghamton NY. He is three-quarters Australian
Shepherd, 8 years of age, and loves to romp through
the fields. Both dogs have learned to share their space
with the five cats. In the beginning, not everyone wanted
to get along, but positive motivational training has
turned them into calmer companions and to be respectful
of other animals and people in their world.
